AMOT Launch New Product at SMM
01 Sep 2004
The AMOT MPD metal detector signals the presence of metal particles, chips or dust in lubricating fluids due to bearing wear or other engine part problems and thereby prevents catastrophic failures, avoids unnecessary costly repairs and minimises downtime.
The compact and lightweight but robust unit has a corrosion resistant anodised aluminium body and no moving parts for minimal maintenance. Its grid sensing technology detects all conductive materials, including non-metallic particles, in non-conductive fluid lubrication systems.
It is a simple and straightforward device easily installed in a side stream of the lube oil/fluid on reciprocating equipment such as gas or diesel engines and reciprocating or rotating compressors, pumps, turbines, transmissions and gearboxes.
Used either with AMOT's MPD controller or an appropriate alternative controller, it converts maintenance into a continuously predictive rather than reactive process. The temperature range is from -29 to +148ºC and up to 13.8 bar as standard. The electrical rating is 3.5VA 24V AC or DC. A stainless steel version is also available for use in hazardous locations.
AMOT will be at SMM in Hamburg this month, also showing its new XTS-W bearing wear conditioning system which provides the earliest warning of bearing wear and trends monitoring. The system detects wear of main, big end, and crosshead bearings on large diesel marine engines before steel-on-steel contact takes place.
The system uses a totally new concept based on linear bearing wear instrumentation for a cost effective solution providing operators with maximum time for a controlled engine shut-down and ship manoeuvring as well as allowing for effective planned maintenance.
