Pipe Bending Technology at SMM
01 Sep 2004
Shipbuilders will know that increased flexibility at maximum quality is the major market demand manufacturers of pipe fabrication machines are now facing. To meet these requirements, there is a clear trend towards enhanced automation in pipe bending technology. This includes the integration of feeding and extraction systems as well as multi-radii configuration which enable the production of complex pipe figures quickly.
Exhibiting on home soil at SMM 2004 in Hamburg, Tracto-Technik goes one step further. By integrating the new SIMATEC CPU 317T-2 DP control ('Technology CPU') from Siemens into multi-radii and right-left bending machines, the cycle times can be reduced by 25% when bending complex pipe figures. The Technology CPU combines the PLC functionality with motion control functions and drives. This is especially useful in multi-axes applications with complex motions such as the movement of axes between two bends of a pipe figure, in which he CPU enables optimum synchronisation of the axes.
At SMM Tracto-Technik will present the new technology incorporated into all their multi-radii or right-left bending machines. Also on show will be two CNC controlled pipe bending machines. The Tubotron 30 multi-radii bender is equipped with a new pressure and path control for the clamp die and the pressure die which enlarges the bending space and improves the quality of thin-walled pipe bends.
Manual bending machines and the PipeFAB production management software for pipeline construction will also be shown.
