  • English Nature Call for Coastal Action

    English Nature released its maritime strategy on the future of seas and coasts last month, calling for new legislation to create a network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), a movement from coastal defence to coastal management, and effective marine spatial planning. 

  • Romanian Service for Two Fassmer Specials

    Being sailed to the Black Sea from Germany in April were two special vessels built to order by Fassmer forRomanian authorities - one a survey, surveillance and research vessel and the other a waste collection vessel boat with oil pollution combat capability.

    Maritime charity Seafarers UK has linked up with Trinity House , The Northern Lighthouse Board and the Royal Marines to provide a summer challenge for anyone over the age of 18. In 'The Seafarers UK Royal Marines Lighthouse Challenge' participants who have raised £125 for the charity will, under Royal Marines' expert guidance, abseil down the Portland Bill, Nash Point, South Stack, Barns Ness, Flamborough Head, and Southwold lighthouses.
