Ohmex Tide Gauge Orders
01 Aug 2005
On the Ohmex stand, director Ted Read reported strong interest from Dutch dredging contractors in the Lymington company's latest Mk 4 Tidalite portable tide gauge system, three of which have recently been commissioned by ABP at Barrow-in-Furness.
Utilising very low power pressure transducer designs for long term deployment via internal battery power lasting up to 10 days, the system includes a barometer so that the unvented transducer can be corrected for atmospheric pressure variations. Internal storage of data together with calculation and preservation of significant wave heights and full wave frequency measurements are among other main features. Also exhibited was the latest SonarMite portable Bluetooth echosounder for shallow water surveying. Use of wireless technology, says Read, enables the system, which includes a six-axis solid state accelerometer, to be used in hostile environments and linked to weather sensitive Windows Pocket PC devices over distances up to 50m away.
