Port of London Authority Chasing Olympic Gold
01 Aug 2005
The river is already used for moving project loads, aggregates and other building materials efficiently and will be further promoted to these ends during the lengthy construction phase of the Olympics. When the games are underway the river will provide transportation for participants, officials and spectators, not only to the Olympic Park but to other key venues on or near the waterway.
The PLA will also be exploring possibilities for more passenger cruise ships to moor in the Thames as floating hotels for visitors or additional accommodation for athletes.
This would build on London's existing cruise ship moorings at Tower Bridge, Greenwich and Tilbury.
