    Dutch Order German SWATH Ships

    Abeking & Rasmussen have floated out the first of what looks likely to be six more of its increasingly popular 25.65m SWATH tenders for the Dutch pilot association Nederlands Loodswezen . 

    New RNLI Lifeboat Is Fit for The Queen

    Her Majesty The Queen looked over the RNLI’s new inshore lifeboat, the Atlantic 85, and met RNLI representatives including volunteer crew at a special maritime theme day at St James’s Palace on Wednesday 20 July. The state of the art lifeboat was the only exhibit on display in the courtyard area of St James’s Palace at the special event hosted by The Queen to recognise Britain’s maritime<$>community. 

    Third Torpoint Ferry Due This Month

    The construction of three new chain driven ferries for the Torpoint Ferry Service in the UK's West Country is on schedule, with two of the vessels already delivered and the third due to be delivered this month. The vessels have been built by Ferguson Shipbuilders of Port Glasgow and assisted by sub-contract partner Inviron Marine Systems .

    Accessing offshore wind farm installations, which are often located in dangerous waters, can prove difficult, especially during hazardous weather conditions. A safer solution to this problem has been provided through a new development in workboat design. 

    Simek A/S Delivers 'Portosalvo'

    Simek A/S delivered its newbuild platform supply vessel M/S Portosalvo to Portosalvo Ltd , a London based company owned by Rimorchiatori SRL of Italy.
