The London P&I Club has warned of the potentially fatal consequences of failing to observe the highest levels of care and attention, on board and ashore, during the mooring and unmooring of ships. In the latest issue of its StopLoss Bulletin, the Club highlights a case in which a vessel leaving a river berth failed to release a mooring line which broke when the current caught the ship, killing a mooring man onshore.
