Dolphins Dry Docked In Belfast for Refurbishment

Specialist construction services and protective coatings group Pyeroy Ltd is supporting Belfast's Harland and Wolff Heavy Industries on a major contract for the repair and refurbishment of two large semi-submersible oil rigs.

The Byeford Dolphin and Borgsten Dolphin rigs, owned by drilling contractor Dolphin Drilling Ltd, are in Harland and Wolff's 550m main dock for comprehensive inspection, repair and upgrade in readiness for drilling contracts in the North Sea. The work includes substantial repainting, fatigue enhancement and repair generated by the company's in-service inspection programme.

Pyeroy Ireland is responsible for the supply and erection of scaffolding access and containment around both rigs together with surface preparation, blasting and cleaning services as well as the preservation and painting of large areas of the above and below water steel work and plating.

Byeford Dolphin left Belfast last month while work continues on Borgsten Dolphin , which is expected to leave next month.

This work adds significantly to Pyeroy's operations in Ireland and consolidates the recent acquisition of Uprite Scaffold.
