More Daewoos to Choose at London Boat Show
01 Jan 2005
As promised, WaterMota Ltd turned up at the London Boat Show earlier this month with two new engines from value for money Korean manufacturer Daewoo . The engines are so popular with commercial operators that the Benelux distributor has reported the sale of 35 units over the Christmas period.
The six cylinder LO66TIH (Turbocharged, Intercooled, Heavy duty) model seen in London is rated at 180hp and, at 5.8 litres displacement, fills a previous gap in the Daewoo range between 3.3 litres and 8 litres. The 4V222TIL (light duty) model seen in London is a 12 cylinder, 22 litre unit boosting the top end of the Daewoo range, which starts at 70hp, from 1,000 to 1,200hp.
The 4V222 will also be available in a medium duty version well suited to pilot boats and police launches while a heavy duty model will be right at home in vessels such as trawlers. The 4V222 models will be available by June in time for Seawork 2005 while the LO66TIH is available from next month.
Also revealed by WaterMota at the London Boat Show was a model of an all new, electronic common rail diesel currently being jointly developed by Daewoo and UK based engine design house Ricardo. The inline six cylinder, four valve per cylinder DL08 will displace 7.64 litres and will be Euro Tier 3 emissions compliant. Rated 315 hp at 2,200 rpm, it is expected to enter the marketplace by the end of this year.
WaterMota is moving across Newton Abbot to a new location at Heathfield on the 1 February.
Some 30 years worth of 'memorabilia', including propellers, bearings, couplings, heat exchangers, coolers, drive plates, exhausts and marinising kits are available for viewing and sale online at www. watermota. co. uk
