Primar & IC-ENC Agreement
01 Jan 2005
The Norwegian Hydrographic Service and the UK Hydrographic Office , as operators of Primar Stavanger and the International Centre for Electronic Nautical Charts (IC-ENC) respectively, have signed a letter of intent on closer cooperation for distribution of products.
The agreement, they say, is specifically intended to focus on technical issues covering implementation of the International Hydrographic Organisation's S63 security standard.
Both organisations will work with all involved in the S63 standard to ensure wide and rapid uptake of the data protection scheme as well as delivery of integrated user-friendly navigation services to mariners. Joint delivery of additional services to support these initiatives are due to begin shortly.
Meanwhile, an information campaign on carriage requirements for ENC's is also to be jointly mounted. It will include a review of current regulations as well as brief information on differences between various official and unofficial electronic charts.
