Moves Towards 'Almost Zero Emissions Engines'

Italian classification society RINA has type approved a device which is a significant step towards the 'almost zero emission engine' for passenger ships. The system, known as Turbotransducer , was developed by Italy's Mec System srl andapplies micro-emulsion technology to marine diesel engines to deliver significant reductions in smoke visibility and NOx emission without increasing fuel consumption.
Mermaid Uncovered at Seawork

Dorset UK based Mermaid Marine Engines Ltd chose Seawork 2005 International asthe venue to launch the first 'All British' marine diesel engine for many years. The new engine, due to be on the market by September, is code named JM4 to reflect the close cooperation between base engine manufacturer JCB and Mermaid acting as marinisers.
