Rolls Royce Exchange Thrusters Save Time and Money

Operators of selected types of Rolls-Royce thrusters are being offered a new concept for thrusters service aimed at reducing the amount of time spent overhauling thrusters when the vessel is in dry dock.

The scheme is being launched first for customers in Europe and for particular oil filled thrusters ranges but will be expanded in due course based on feedback from the first phase.

When a vessel starts its planned dry docking, exchange thrusters with class approval will be at the dock ready for fitting. The existing units will be removed by Rolls-Royce service personnel and the new thrusters fitted and commissioned.

The replacement units will come with all the latest upgrades and an 'as new' guarantee.

The old units will be transported to the new service workshop at Ulsteinvik, stripped, rebuilt and put into the buffer stock. The owner pays for the installation and overhaul work and has the opportunity to be present when the old thrusters are stripped and inspected in the workshop.

Time in dry dock related to thrusters work is much reduced and the overhaul is carried out by specialists under optimum conditions. The labour cost of the overhaul is a fixed price per thrusters but the total price depends on how many spare parts are required. Vessel operators can expect to save money and have better control over budgeting.
