Submersible Drive Motors for the Dredging Industries

Dutch Elektromotorenfabriek Nijmegen (EN) has introduced a new series of submersible motors which are used for submersible drives in the sand and gravel dredging industries. The oil or dry filled units can be supplied in any frame size at power ratings up to 6,500kW at 4,150V and at speeds to suit customer requirements.

ENs new series of submersible motors will be at home in the dredging industry.

The highly efficient butt welded steel submersible motors are designed for use in combination with a frequency converter, the precise regulation allowing for an optimal combination of engine speed and power.

A standard feature of the motors is water detection functionality, with the detection achieved by five detectors monitoring the grease compartment on the front of the motor and the terminal board compartment.

The motors are supplied with standstill heating and three elements which enable automatic motor shutdown if the temperature of the windings gets too high. Water cooling jackets can be supplied on request. Either a lip or a mechanical seal can be used for sealing the shaft.
