Thamesport (London) Ltd hastaken delivery of a further eight new Terburg terminal tractors, following on from seven machines which arrived last October.
Thamesport currently has 35 terminal tractors operating on site. With a total area of 85 hectares, the injection of new equipment replacing older, less efficient machines will ensure faster turnaround times between the yard and the quay.
In addition to the terminal tractors, Thamesport also took delivery of three new Kalmar empty container handlers. These DCE90-45E7s are capable of stacking seven high, enabling the port to handle empty boxes more efficiently. The terminal tractors feature powerful 4X2 drivelines that are suitable for handling heavy cargo up to gross combination weights of 75 tons. All tractors are built to conform to a modular concept, with ergonomically designed safety cabs which meet Roll-Over Protection System and Falling Object Protection System safety standards. They also feature the latest in chassis construction methods and low emission engine technologies.
