Keeping Fuel Water-Free

Boat operators who have experienced fuel contamination first hand or are aware of its consequences will welcome a new product from Middlesex UK based Water-D-Tech Ltd .The D-TX Fuel Safe 250 makes the D-TX Fuel Safe water in fuel monitoring, detection and warning system available to larger inshore and offshore vessels.

The standard D-TX Fuel Safe 100 handles fuel line sizes up to 3/8in. The new D-TX Fuel Safe 250 extends this up to 1in. To ensure that the faster fuel flow rates with larger lines is not disrupted in any way, the new unit has a larger design measuring 200x375x100mm.

Installation involves attaching the unit in line along the fuel line with a fuel in and fuel out attachment. The warning dashplate is cabled to the unit and gives an audio-visual warning when any water is detected in the fuel. It can be fixed in a position that makes it most effective to deal with any warning.

After the unit is installed the dashplate gives a short audio-visual alarm each time the engines are started. Whenever water is detected in the fuel, the unit has a drain plug which enables it to be drained out.

This can be done whether the engines are running or not. If the alarm continues after draining then there is more than just a little contamination and the fuel should be checked more thoroughly.

Developed for larger coastal and short sea vessels, the D-TX Fuel Safe 250 has no moving parts, requires minimal maintenance and is likely to last for the lifetime of the vessel.
