See Beneath the Sea at Seawork
01 Jun 2005
Seawork exhibitors Subsea Vision were recently called upon to supply an ROV and operator to survey a sunken vessel off the coast of southern Ireland for contractors Seawinds Ltd . Strong tides and poor visibility created conditions too dangerous for divers.
The ROV was deployed in the vicinity of where the vessel had sunk in 20m of water. Once on the seabed, the sonar fitted as standard to the ROV quickly located the wreck, which was only 90m away. Within minutes the wreck had been visually identified and a video survey had started. Alternating between low light monochrome and colour, the zoom focus camera captured the best possible video images of the wreck and surrounding area.
The power and reliability of Subsea Vision's Falcon ROV and the experience of their operator allowed the project to be completed safely and efficiently.
This proved cost effective for the contractor, enabling Seawinds to gather important information with which to plan their further involvement with the project.
Subsea Vision has also recently completed similar projects for other diving contractors, including those working for the MAIB. For further information about a range of underwater services, visit the Subsea Vision stand at Seawork 2005
