New Profiler at Seawork
01 Jun 2005
Oceanographic instrumentation specialists Valeport of Totnes, an exhibitor at Seawork 2005 , has extended its range of depth profilers with introduction of Midas BathyPack for calculation of water column density profiles.
Featuring high-accuracy sensors, it enables real-time conversion of pressure data into precision depth measurements.
Additional altimeter input and sound velocity data from the company's miniSVS ensures exact determination of position in a water column, making it ideal for underwater positioning applications down to depths of 6,000m. Other main features include a purpose-designed pressure port to prevent any build-up of salt crystals and a new conductivity sensor using digital signal processing and specially selected materials for virtual elimination of long-term drift and dimensional changes at depth.
Midas BathyPack is available with BathyLog, a new Windowsbased software package which both logs and provides a graphical illustration of incoming data. It can also accept data from up to four remote pressure sensors, applying Bathypack's measured density profile to all of them in real-time and so allowing precise pressure/depth conversions for multiple positions within localised environments.
