Tideland In Buoyant Form at Seawork

Tideland Signal , together with its distributors FPM Henderson and Lumen Seamarks , will be showing highlights of its aids to navigation range, including the latest Automatic Identification System and diode based lanterns at Seawork 2005 .

The lightweight SB-98P polyethylene buoy, which will replace all the Trinity House Class 4 and 5 steel buoys, will be on show at Seawork.

One of the main attractions on Stand 55 will be the new options available for Tideland's compact, lightweight LED based lanterns.

These include the capability for remote monitoring and control and a SyncMaster GPS module, allowing synchronous flashing of lanterns without cable connection.

The MLED-120 bridge and barge lanterns are available either with an E-Base housing or in a multiple cable entry version and their DA-65C diode array can operate either in fixed or flashing mode, while the AC version shows a fixed flash. Both are available with sunswitch control and can also support the SyncMaster circuit.

All these lanterns are available with a choice of one to four LED arrays, colour coordinated for ease of recognition in the standard IALA colours.

Another highlight will be the SB-98P buoy, designed for use with Tideland's self contained MLED-120SC solar powered lantern, which has just been selected by Trinity House to replace all Class 4 and 5 steel buoys. Among its advantages compared to other buoys are its robust design and ability to stay upright in a wide variety of stations and sea conditions. Also, its lightweight, polyethylene construction is far less likely to damage leisure craft and smaller vessels in the event of an accidental collision.

Tideland will also be introducing the MLED-120SC lantern with the V-TRACK AIS AtoN 'Informer V-02', the first dual function navigational aid in a self contained package. Informer-MLED-120SC includes its own solar panels and battery system, ensuring easy fitting and minimal maintenance.

It has a projected 10 year service life before any significant maintenance is needed and the lantern is available with 256 flash characters, all IALA colours, and a light performance range in excess of four nautical miles.

The AIS Informer provides valuable information to shipping in the form of positive ID of the AtoN, accurate positioning and an 'off position' alarm. Remote monitoring of the lantern is available to the AtoN authority.
