Hand Held Radios Race Into the Fast Lane

Icom UK has taken pole position as the official radio communication supplier to the Honda Formula 4-Stroke race series championship that kicked off last month at Largs in Scotland and continues later this month with a first time race around the Isle of Man. The offshore power boat series sees 35 boats racing at speeds of up to 70 mph.

Radios are vitally important to the organisation and safety of the five race series. In support of the series Icom UK has supplied ten IC-M1 Euro V waterproof VHF hand held radios to the organisers, Honda Formula 4-Stroke. The radios will be used by race officials for communications between safety boats and safety officials.

Six times Class 1 World Powerboat Champion and race organiser Steve Curtis was pleased with Icom's support.

'It is important to be in partnership with strong brands as it adds credence to the whole series, he said. 'This is going to be the biggest and best year yet for Honda Formula 4-Stroke. We are more organised and professional than ever.

It's going to be a fantastic spectacle with TV coverage by Channel 4.'
