Queen's Award Dropped on Rock Fall

Scottish specialists in underwater drilling and blasting, Rock Fall Company Ltd , has won this year's Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.

The company was formed in the 1960s based at Barhead in Scotland. Expanding into overseas work, they became part of the Boskalis/Westminster Dredging Group and now operate from a base at Dundonald in Ayrshire.

Works are still carried out in Scotland and the rest of the UK together with contracts in some 30 countries worldwide.

These include a major contract to deepen the Kill van Kull channel for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the second phase of which is currently in progress, as well as works in Singapore and on the Panama Canal.

Equipment can be transported by container from Rock Fall's Dundonald base to anywhere in the world while floating plant is either hired locally or accessed from Boskalis' vast global fleet of dredgers and support vessels.
