Deutz Flight to the Finnish

Finnish engine manufacturer Wärtsilä has paid €115 million to acquire the assets of Deutz AG’s medium and large marineengine service operations, including original spare parts sales, repair and maintenance. Wärtsilä will use the Deutz Marine brand name and will be the supplier of spares and technical support for the Deutz engines worldwide.
Deutz retains new sales and service of compact engines, stationary power and gas engines. Subject to competition authority approvals, the parties intend to close the transaction in the first four months of this year. Wärtsilä Nederland BV is Zwolle will act as the product company for Deutz medium and large marine engines (up to 7,250kW). Deutz workshops in Hamburg, Harlingen and Montreal will be taken over and remain operative. In other locations Deutz marine service will be integrated with Wärtsilä, with some 200 Deutz employees moving to Wärtsilä in different parts of the world.
