EHMC Seminar in Port of Bordeaux
01 Mar 2005
Under the title
Safe Seas, Safe Ports the European Harbour Masters Committee (EHMC) will
host this year’s one day seminar on 2 June in the French Port of Bordeaux.
The programme covers current topical issues in port operations and safety such as quality criteria in port byelaws as they affect areas such as the requirements for tug use, manoeuvring problems and ship blackouts in ports, the consequences of increased vessel dimensions on fendering systems, mooring and tugs, dealing with requests to tow salvaged ships into port, and the current state of the European Safe Sea Net project, including a look at its regulatory side and the practical consequences for Harbour Masters.
The yearly EHMC seminars are organised specifically to provide opportunities for discussion amongst European Harbour Masters between IHMA Congresses. The IHMA Congress in Bremen last year precluded an EHMC seminar. The ‘in between’ events provide for discussion of topics of common interest and an exchange of information in an amicable environment. The fee is again expected to be a modest €60 per person. European members of the IHMA interested in attending, knowing more of the seminar’s content and obtaining hotel information can contact Capt Jaap Lems, EHMC Chairman, E-mail: J.C.Lems@portofrotterman.com
