World Maritime Technology Conference

Coastal and Ocean Mapping, Operational Oceanography and EEZ Management are among ten main topics scheduled for the second triennial World Maritime Technology Conference (WMTC 2006), to be held in London's Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre from 6-10 March.

Launching the main conference programme last month at their headquarters, Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) officials, who are hosting the event in partnership with 24 of the world's leading maritime organisations, said they expect up to 1,500 delegates from around the world to attend what will be the most ambitious and far-ranging maritime conference ever held in the UK. Joe Borg, EU Director General for Fisheries & Maritime Affairs, and Sir David King, Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK Government, head an impressive list of keynote speakers.

In all, says IMarEST, there will be 237 technical presentations and 28 poster sessions by speakers drawn from 33 countries while up to 100 companies will participate in a supporting exhibition which will also be open to non-delegate visitors. Further details can be accessed via the main conference website (www.wmtc2006.com).
