Construction has started on Wartsila's joint venture genset factory in China. The Wartsila Qiyao Diesel Company Ltd (Shanghai) will initially manufacture Wartsila Auxpac W20 diesel gensets which will be sold through Wartsila's global sales network. The new facility is jointly owned by Wartsila and the Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute, which is a subsidiary of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. Production is due to begin next summer.
