Navaids Go Live at Europort
01 Oct 2005
Tideland Signal will be showing highlights of its comprehensive range of aids to navigation on Stand 501 at Europort Maritime in Rotterdam, including the latest AIS, a remote monitoring and control system, and single diode based lanterns.
A video screen on the stand will show live demonstrations of both Tideland's V-Track 100 and Navlink network systems. V-Track 100 is the entry level version of the company's modular range of automatic identification systems, displaying, identifying and monitoring all AIS vessels on S-57 or C-Map charts. Navlink is a unique remote monitoring and control system incorporating an enhanced mesh network.
Also featured will be two polyethylene buoys, the multi-purpose SB-98P, designed for use with Tideland's self contained MLED-120SC solar powered lantern, has just been selected by the UK's Trinity House to replace Class 5 and 4 steel buoys. Its advantages include robust design and the ability to stay upright in a wide variety of stations and sea conditions.
New products to be launched at Europort include two additions to the Tideland range of long life, low maintenance LED lanterns.
The MLED-215 and SolaLED-215 both offer the versatility of three different lens configurations to meet varying vertical divergence requirements. The narrow beam configuration provides maximum intensity with a range of up to 5nm in fixed or high stability buoy applications. Medium beam is for channel marking and wide beam for short range river and canal use. SolaLED-215 offers all the properties of the MLED-215 in a self-contained, solar powered configuration for buoys, remote installations, and wherever space is at a premium.
Tideland will also be introducing the MLED-120SC diode based lantern with the V-Track AIS AtoN 'Informer V-02', the first dual function navaid in a self-contained package. Informer MLED-120SC includes its own solar panels and battery system, ensuring easy fitting and minimal maintenance. It has a projected 10 year service life before any significant maintenance is needed and the lantern is available with 256 flash characters, all IALA colours and a light performance range in excess of 4 nm. The AIS Informer provides valuable information to shipping in the form of positive ID of the AtoN, accurate positioning, and an 'off position' alarm. Remote monitoring of the lantern via the Informer is also available to the AtoN authority.
