Seal with Beele at Europort

Beele Engineering 's stand at Europort Maritime will focus on fire and escape safety, with the company showing a range of sealing plugs used in ship and boat building.

Beele's new SLIPSIL plug offers a solution for the fire safe, gas and watertight sealing of penetrations for both metal and plastic pipes.

The SLIPSIL plug consists of two identical parts, with sealing achieved by pushing them into the remaining space between the ducted pipe and the side of the penetration opening. The minimal length of the penetration opening for the new plug is only 120mm. Besides sealing plugs for individually ducted cables or pipes, the SLIPSIL range also includes multi-sealing plugs for two, three or five same diameter cables or pipes.

Beele Engineering will also be demonstrating its RISE sealing system for cable and pipe penetrations on board ships.

Short installation times are the result of a system design which is based on fire safe protective sleeves that are split lengthwise and are simply placed around cables. Once the cables to be ducted have been wrapped in this way, the remaining space is packed with loose sleeves.

Finally the penetration is closed off at both sides with a 2cm thick layer of fire safe FIWA compound which is water repellent and gas tight, ensuring a watertight seal. When heated or exposed to fire, the sleeves and the FIWA compound will expand to approximately five to ten times the original volume, with the mass thus formed providing total sealing and protection.

Also on show at Europort Maritime will be a new version of Beele's RISWAT system for gas and watertight sealing of shipboard cable and pipe penetrations.
