Port Monitoring Roll-out Continues

Of particular interest to many visitors to the Transas Marine UK stand at Seawork 2005 was the company's recent installation of a port monitoring system at Portland Harbour inDorset UK.
Similar systems are also in use at other British ports and harbours, including the Ports of Larne, Cardiff, Swansea, Barry, Port Talbot, Newport, Tyne, Aberdeen, Bristol (Svitzer Marine), Peterhead, Poole, Londonderry and in more than 75 other ports and harbours worldwide.
The Transas Navi-Monitor port monitoring system installed at Portland is fully compliant with the IALA VTS Guidelines, all applicable IMO conventions, and takes full account of the UK Port Marine Safety and the International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) Codes. It has been designed to facilitate coastal surveillance, traffic monitoring, collision avoidance, search & rescue coordination and port operational efficiency.
The Portland system comprises traffic display workstation with multiple electronic charts, Transas coastal radar processor integrated with Sperry Bridgemaster E radar and AIS as well as a sophisticated set of operator controls and traffic management toolkits.
The system also incorporates double screen operator workstation, the facility to review/replay incidents on the screen and remote access to the system over the internet for pilots and other authorised users.
