Anti-Corrosion Benefit for Commercial Vessel Operators

MICAD Marine , which provides real-time data collection and presentation systems for commercial vessel operators, has announced the inclusion of Vessel Corrosion Monitoring asstandard equipment on all of its MICAD Marine Systems .

Corrosion is one of the greatest enemies of all vessels and there are several protective measures that owners can take to eliminate risk. The typical solution is the placement of zinc on metallic objects which make up the submersed parts of vessels. Boats with metal hulls face different and greater exposure risks from cathodic corrosion.

The new MICAD Cathodic Monitoring System measures corrosion likelihood constantly, letting the owner always know a boat's current level of protection and whether that is adequate.

The current status of cathodic protection as well as a permanent log of the entire protective system employed on the boat for its entire history is displayed and archived.

If the zincs should be reduced to a condition that places the boat below minimum levels of protection, the MICAD System notifies relevant personnel and if excessive protection is present, it will notify owners of that condition as well.
