    Spanish SDMs - a New European Art Form?

    Named after the famous Spanish artists, Ramon Casa and Salvador Dali are the first two US designed Ship Docking Modules (SDMs) to have entered service in Barcelona with Spanish towage company Remolques y Servicios Maritimos (REYSER). 

    Fairplay Towage and URS Order Tugs from Spain

    Hamburg based tug owner Fairplay Towage and their Belgian associate company URS have placed an order for four new tugs with Astilleros Armon in Spain. Two of the vessels, due for delivery in February and August 2007 will be used primarily in Hamburg and Rotterdam and two identical sisters will join the URS fleet in the port of Zeebrugge. Fairplay Towage has a 50 percent holding in URS. 

    Smitwijs Towage Stays in Business

    During a recent series of meetings, the shareholders of SmitWijs Towage , comprising Smit International (50%) and Svitzer-Wijsmuller (50%), have reconfirmed their commitment to the ocean towage business and their efforts to remain a market leader in this sector. 

    ITC Acquire 'Tempest' and 'Typhoon'

    International Towage Contractors (ITC) of the Netherlands has successfully completed negotiations leading to the purchase of the identical ocean going anchor handling tugs Smitwijs Typhoon and Smitwijs Tempest . 

    Multraship Purchases Bulgarian Tug Fleet

    Multraship Towage & Salvage ofTerneuzen has purchased the Bulgarian towage and salvage operator Bourgas Tug Services (BTS). BTS provides harbour towage, local salvage and line handling services in and around the Bulgarian port of Bourgas. It has a fleet of four tugboats ranging from 1,500 to 4,300bhp and 50 employees. 

    'Kinnaird' Enters Service with JP Knight

    J P Knight (Caledonian) Ltd introduced their most powerful tug to date at a reception held for local dignitaries and industry guests on the 16th of August. A subsidiary of J P Knight Ltd of Rochester, the Invergordon based company has been in existence for 35 years, providing towage services in the Cromarty Firth and more recently further afield.

    Kooren Shipbuilding and Trading BV have named the first two of four new Rotor Tugs to be completed at the ASL Shipyard Pte Ltd in Singapore.
