During a recent series of meetings, the shareholders of SmitWijs Towage , comprising Smit International (50%) and Svitzer-Wijsmuller (50%), have reconfirmed their commitment to the ocean towage business and their efforts to remain a market leader in this sector.

As of 29 August, managing director Aart Brand left the joint venture on reaching retirement age. The organisation thanked Mr Brand, who has worked for both the Smit organisation and SmitWijs for more than 40 years, for all his efforts.

Mr Brand will continue his services in the capacity of senior advisor until the end of this year. Mr Brand will be succeeded by Mr Jord Veldman.

Mr Veldman currently holds the position of regional manager Americas with Svitzer-Wijsmuller. Mr Hans van der Donck, general manager of SmitWijs, will continue in his present position. SmitWijs also thanked their customers for their support and confidence and hope that they will continue to support the company with this new start.
