New Cost Standards for Dredging Equipment Published by CIRIA in the United Kingdom
01 Apr 2006
The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) reports that the Construction Industry Research Association (CIRIA) in the UK has recently published new cost standards for dredging equipment. The publication is for use by all stakeholders in dredging projects, including consultants, existing and potential clients, insurers and project financiers.
Cost Standards for Dredging Equipment 2005 offer a standard method to establish the capital and related costs of various types of dredging plant and equipment commonly in use. It provides a description of the most common dredgers and dredging equipment used, the principles and definitions for the standards and cost standard tables. These tables provide calculations on replacement values, depreciation and interest costs as well as maintenance and repair costs for the various types of equipment based on the experience from international dredging contractors which are members of IADC.
Following CIRIA's tradition of collaboration, the study was guided by an independent steering group. In collaboration with CIRIA, IADC will publish annually indices for the Cost Standards, thus keeping the various figures up to date.
