Milford Haven Sells DV Howells

Milford Haven Port Authority in Wales has sold its wholly owned pollution response subsidiary DV Howells to the London based ship broking and consultancy services provider Braemar Seascope. DV Howells' 30 employees will transfer with the business.

DV Howells was established in its current form in 1998 with a remit to create a business from the core contract held at that time with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency for housing and deploying the national stockpile of equipment to be used in the event of major oil pollution at sea. The business has grown to include inland response, training, rail and industrial services, and overseas consultancy.

As a result, it was felt that DV Howells had become a business with less synergy with the activities of the Milford Haven Port Authority Group.

Ted Sangster, chief executive of MHPA said, 'Whilst we will continue to assist DV Howells in many ways, this will no longer be as the owner, as we firmly believe that its future potential will be better served as part of the Braemar Seascope Group's more widely based operations.'
