Cornwall UK based marine civil engineering contractors Seacore Ltd has acquired from Lankelma CPT Ltd its 50% shareholding in Lankelma Seacore Offshore, the offshore cone penetrometer testing contractor formed by Lankelma and Seacore in 2002. Seacore now holds 100% of the shares in the specialist offshore geotechnical investigation company, which has been renamed Seacone Ltd.
Seacone can provide a full range of offshore CPT and sampling services to the offshore site investigation sector, including a combined wireline coring/CPT system capable of conducting both CPT and rotary coring within the same boreholes to depths of up to 700m below sea level.
Through parent company Seacore, Seacone also has access to a variety of portable jack-up platforms and heave compensated drilling systems capable of drilling in water depths of up to 2,500m using standard steel 5in API drill strings. The company has secured its first offshore contract operating as a subcontractor to Seacore. This project involves working from a drill ship on an offshore site investigation off the East Coast of the USA using its wireline CPT and push sampling equipment.
