DieselHouse is situated on the site of the H C Orsted power station in Copenhagen, the building housing the B&W diesel engine operational from 1932 to as recently as 2003, when it was used to start up the East Danish power grid after a major collapse of supply.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is obviously this huge diesel engine, which was the largest in the world for some 30 years. The engine will be fired up once a month during opening hours so that visitors can experience the sound and smell of the genuine article.

DieselHouse also features modern interactive exhibitions and an extensive collection of ship and engine models based on production at the B&W shipyard and engineering works.

Each of the three exhibition floors has its own theme, with the first being 'Diesel Drives the World'. This shows the significance of diesel to all types of shipping as well as the electrification of Denmark.

The second floor shows the industrial development of Denmark as illustrated by the history of B&W, which to many Danes is synonymous with the industrial revolution.

The third floor is the Innovation section, displaying everything from basic principles of the diesel engine to the most advanced methods of development and calculation. This is meant to be a source of inspiration to children and students, encouraging them to learn about the diesel engine and perhaps choose a technical eduction.
