In their UK offices, Marine Software produced skeleton set ups for the planned maintenance systems of both vessels from class listings and other data supplied by Northumberland Ferries. These skeleton set ups are designed to give a cost effective, quick start set up to planned maintenance systems, providing the core system covering class continuous survey and major machinery requirements.

The systems were dispatched to Northumberland Ferries, who used their in-house resources to flesh out the systems with detailed local knowledge gained from their operating experience. Marine Software have found that the skeleton set up option is a popular choice with clients, enabling them to both rapidly set up databases and incorporate their own expertise with the vessels whilst keeping a tight control on both consultancy costs and in-house set up timescales and expense.

Following the detailed set up, Marine Software's technical manager was invited to Nova Scotia to review the final detailed set up and conduct onboard training and evaluation for the vessels' crews. Whilst in Nova Scotia, Marine Software also visited Northumberland Ferries' associated company Bay Ferries, which has been a customer for years, operating Marine Planned Maintenance on its 98m Evolution wave piercing catamaran The Cat.
