Ghana Gets Belgian Loan to Restore Harbour
01 Jun 2006
The Belgian government is to provide 6.3m under a concessionary loan agreement to Ghana to undertake restoration of a fishing harbour and lagoon in the central region.
The amount represents the remaining 50% of the total cost of the Elmina Fishing Harbour and Benya Lagoon Restoration Projects. An agreement for the initial amount of 6.24m was signed in April 2006.
The rehabilitation work consists of dredging and breakwater rehabilitation.
Successful execution of the project will provide safe passage and mooring of fishing vessels.
