Seawork Launch for 'Dockmaster' Pontoons

This may be the first year that Marine Designs Ltd have exhibited at Seawork but the company has been designing, fabricating and installing heavy duty linkspans since 1994.

The pontoon at Woolwich Arsenal is one of the many Marine Designs has placed along the Thames.

Marine Designs has built more linkspans on London's River Thames than anyone else and some of the company's more high profile installations include a 90m long by 15m wide pontoon at the Millennium Dome plus others at Woolwich Arsenal and at the Tate Britain art gallery, all certified to Lloyds Linkspan Rules.

At Seawork 2006 Marine Designs will unveil its new 'Dockmaster' pontoon system, an economic, zero maintenance concrete pontoon. It is built to a novel design concept (patent applied for) that allows the company to economically produce single piece pontoons of almost any length, width, draft and freeboard.

Although the main structure of the Dockmaster pontoon is concrete, the decking can be of any material, such as wood, recycled plastic, fibreglass grate, asphalt, concrete or even carpet.

The pontoons are extremely stable and even the smallest can support being driven onto by a delivery van.

Dockmaster pontoons are suitable for installation in sheltered water locations or as breakwaters in exposed sea conditions. They can be moored on piles, chains, or the Seaflex anchoring system. Finger pontoons, pile guides, etc can be attached at any point and the pontoons can be connected together in any combination to suit even the most complicated marina layouts.

Dockmaster pontoons are normally produced in-house at Marine Design's facility in Falmouth Docks but the units can be cast anywhere in the world to economise on transport and other costs.

Visitors to stand 7 at Seawork 2006 can see a 3m wide Dockmaster pontoon as well as a cross section of a huge 7m wide by 3.4m high Dockmaster Wavebreak pontoon.
