Redwise Revels in Tug Deliveries
01 Jun 2006
Redwise Maritime Services BV of the Netherlands made a rocket start to 2006, delivering 12 vessels in the first four months and having 10 more projects underway as of last month.
Recent deliveries include a voyage of 1,550 nautical miles by the single screw tug Stadt Tug (formerly Montado of Lisbon Tugs and Sun Kent of Howard Smith) from Lisbon to Maaloy in Norway, with the single screw tug Stadt Assister (formerly Neiva of Lisbon Tugs) in tow.
Both vessels arrived safely at their new home. Redwise was responsible for all aspects of this delivery voyage, including registration, upgrading of Lloyd's classification for the voyage, tow preparations, manning and bunkering.
Redwise crews have also recently delivered two newbuild utility vessels from the Far East.
The 36m Kambr undertook a 9,100 nautical mile voyage from Singapore to Gdansk in Poland while the 45m Coastal sailed over 5,000 nautical miles from the Guangzhou yard in China to Abu Dhabi.
Other recent tug delivery work includes taking the 1996 built Z-peller Sea Husky some 1,900 nautical miles from Australia to Singapore and the newbuild Z-drive Pawlina from Rotterdam to Malta. The latter boat is a 30.6m LOA craft built by Damen Shipyards at Gorinchem, whose twin Caterpillar 3516B TA HD/D engines provided 13 knots for the 2,400 nautical mile voyage.
