The UK's largest show devoted to all sources of renewable and sustainable energy is set to surpass last year's gathering of some 200 exhibitors and 2,150 visitors.

The 2006 show has attracted UK Energy Minister, Malcolm Wicks MP, who will deliver the keynote opening address. He had taken over the energy portfolio just a short time before All-Energy 2005 and impressed many by not only speaking but also by taking questions, asking for comments, holding one to one meetings, and touring the exhibition. Other keynote speakers in the opening plenary session on 24 May are Lord Oxburgh, the retired chairman of Shell, and Scotland's Deputy First Minister, Nicol Stephen MSP.

All-Energy is held in association with the British Wind Energy Association and the Scottish Renewables Forum. The Society for Underwater Technology is the learned society patron and Aberdeen City Council is the principal sponsor, whose Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) gathers together a large group of exhibitors, many of whom have diversified into the renewable energy industry alongside their oil and gas interests.

Aberdeen based AREG member Talisman Energy (UK) Ltd is preparing a two-session conference stream on their Distant Offshore Windfarms with No Visual Impact in Deepwater (DOWNVInD) Project. Talisman on behalf of their main funding partner Scottish and Southern Energy and the other 15 pan-European consortium members are coordinating the DOWNVInD Project, which is supported by the European Community, the DTI and the Scottish Executive.

The ?41m project aims to install two demonstrator wind turbines later this year adjacent to the Beatrice oil field.

The All-Energy Exhibition covers the entire renewable energy mix, with major wind power players such as Vestas and GE Wind Energy joined by wave and tidal energy innovators such as Ocean Power Delivery, Ocean Power Technologies, Wave Gen and the Manchester Bobber.

Hydrogen/fuel cell, PV/solar, hydro, and bioenergy industries will also be in attendance.

Both days of the free to attend All-Energy Conference begin with plenary sessions, with day one setting the scene and day two, chaired by former Energy Minister, Brian Wilson, grilling representatives of the gas, coal, nuclear and renewables industries about what their source will be achieving in 2020. Technical presentations fill the rest of the two very informative days.

A networking breakfast and the surprise filled, free to attend All-Energy Giant Networking Evening on 24 May complete an action packed schedule for all participants. Further information and free online registration is available at www. all-energy. co. uk
