Dutch Ocean Group Formed

Nearly 20 leading domestic institutes, agencies and companies concerned with oceanography and related disciplines in Holland have pooled their resources and expertise as part of a new consortium recently established in Delft, the Dutch Ocean Group.

Supported by the Agency for International Business & Cooperation (EVD), its members include the Rijkswaterstaat North Sea Agency and  the National Institute for Coastal & Marine Management as well as divisions of the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) and various academic and commercial organisations.

Areas of expertise available both at home and abroad extend from systems integration and implementation, monitoring instruments and services, and seismic acquisition and processing to selection of equipment and systems, training and education, and provision of manpower support.

The Group’s elected officials are Dr Cees Laban of TNO’s Built Environment & Geosciences Division (Chairman) and Frans van Dongen of Oceanographic Company of the Netherlands (Secretary).  Dirk Bakker, also of OCN, is Treasurer.
