Sonardyne USBL System for Norway

Yateley UK based Sonardyne International, in association with its local representatives, Aquadyne AS, has delivered its latest Ranger USBL (Ultra-Short Baseline) acoustic positioning system to Artec Subsea AS of Norway.

It is initially being used by the company to support its Subsea ROV positioning operations for cable route surveys in northern coastal sectors of the country.

Installed aboard a 30’ Concat survey launch and featuring Sonardyne’s new Wideband signal technology, the portable Ranger system is capable of operating in depths up to 2,000m while ensuring faster and more reliable subsea navigation.

According to Tore Brekke of Artec, its proven stability will, enable it be deployed for a wide range of ROV and towfish-based tasks for high precision seabed mapping as well as offshore construction and site surveys which the company is also carrying out worldwide following earlier acquisition of Sonardyne’s Fusion USBL hardware.
