Gallium Hits the Deck in Naples

Passenger transport flooring manufacturer Altro Transflor his launching a new marine safety flooring especially developed or use in ships which the company believes is the only IMO approved slip-resistant lightweight flooring on the market.

Gallium makes its debut at the Seatrade Med exhibition in Naples this month. It uses a new formula consisting of a high quality plasticised polyacrylate which meets the IMO’s Fire Test Procedures (FTP) Code’s strict requirements for flammability, smoke and toxicity.

Gallium has been developed with all the key properties associated with other sheet transit flooring products including slip resistance, durability, flexibility and an integrated bacteriostat. Aluminium oxide granules, dispersed throughout the wear layer, maintain a high degree of slip resistance through the long life of the material. The surface layer contains silicon carbide and coloured quartz to combine slip resistance with an attractive appearance. The structural support of the flooring is provided by a glass fibre reinforced polyester cellulose scrim which helps to maintain dimensional stability.

Gallium is also relatively lightweight, aiding fuel efficiency and reducing operating costs. It is available in a wide range of colours.
