North Sea Pulls Winches Order at Seawork
01 Oct 2006
Specialist marine winch manufacturer North Sea Winches is reaping the benefits of participation at Seawork 2006, securing an order to supply the deck machinery package for a new 35m tug following a meeting on their stand between the customer, boatbuilder and North Sea Winches’ Technical Director, David McLorinan. Holyhead Towing Co. has recently ordered the Lloyds class tug, which will be built at the Sepers yard in the Netherlands, for its continuing operations at home and abroad.
The contract represents a significant step up for the winch company as the main winch will be some 20% more powerful than similar winches supplied to previous Holyhead tugs, Afon Braint and Afon Caradog. The contract includes a 50 ton double-drum towing winch, double gypsy anchor windlass, auxiliary deck winches, engine room hydraulics and wheelhouse remotes.
North Sea Winches enjoyed a busy time at the show, its fourth attendance in a row, this time being sited in the British Fluid Power Association pavilion. Several other leads and strong enquiries are being followed up which could help make Seawork 2006 by far its most successful show to date.
North Sea Winches designs and builds largely in-house, which means that winches and systems can be supplied to exact customer specification from 500kg pull upwards.
