CEDA Unveils Technical Dictionary

The Netherlands based Central Dredging Association (CEDA), along with PIANC and other sister organizations IAPH, IALA and IHO, are working together to jointly release a 'Water Dictionary' with an improved structure and content.

Although not yet completed, the dictionary is useful in its current version, so CEDA and PIANC have decided to make it available to the public.

Regarding CEDA's contribution, the most immediate work is focusing on improving the structure, correcting the errors and adding further terms, illustrations, photographs, and videos. An Editorial Board is being set up to coordinate this work and CEDA has asked its members and other users to improve the dictionary.

Please send proposals for corrections, missing translations and new terms to be added to CEDA's portion part to Anna Csiti at the CEDA Secretariat.

CEDA Corporate Members are invited to send photographs and videos to illustrate terms in the dictionary as appropriate.

Photos should be approximately 300 x 400 pixels (jpg or gif).

The videos should be in AVI-format or in Animated GIF, and should not be larger than 10MB (bit rate: 300-500 kbit/sec; length: approximately 1 minute).

In the sponsor sections of the CEDA pages CEDA Corporate Member logos are included. If your company is a corporate member and its logo is not displayed please make sure that the logo will be sent to the CEDA Secretariat ASAP. The logo should be sent preferably in a vector format (Adobe Illustrator or as an eps file).

The CEDA Board of Directors would like to express its appreciation to Henk Jan Verhagen, Delft University of Technology, for his enthusiastic work in converting the CEDA dictionary database into the online version.
