Spotlight on NavComms at SMM

Designed in full compliance with the IEC61924 standard, it has recently been certified by Det Norske Veritas.

Complementing this system is the Transas Light INS, a simplified single workstation INS.

Transas ECDIS and the S-VDR 3100 will also be on show in Hamburg. The latter is designed to meet and exceed the requirements of IMO resolution MSC.163 (78) and is supplied with Navi-Sailor ECS.

The company also provides a full range of training solutions, including the Navi-Trainer Professional 4000 navigation simulator, a GMDSS simulator, engine room simulator, liquid cargo handling simulator, oil product terminal simulator and oil spill response simulator, all integrated in a common virtual environment.

Earlier this summer, Transas began the installation of Phase 2 of a Vessel Traffic Management and Information System (VTMIS) for Malta Maritime Authority (MMA) which will expand the port VTS delivered under Phase 1 of the works.

The Phase 2 VTMIS system will provide a 24/7 service significantly enhancing the surveillance and monitoring capabilities of the MMA. The system has also been designed to support the Armed Forces of Malta in their SAR operations and border monitoring and control. One of the major contributory factors in Transas winning the order was inclusion of their latest Navi-Harbour software and the powerful ORS3 radar processor system, both of which are currently used by over 100 port authorities around the world.

The MMA project is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and is a major advance towards implementation of the Trans-European transport network infrastructure, which is one of the Community's objectives for developing competitiveness and growth in Europe. This project will be an important demonstrator of effective collaboration between two VTS/VTMIS manufacturers and also cooperation between neighbouring national authorities.
