Big Ship Salvage at ISU Members’ Day

The conference programme includes three papers under the heading ‘Limits to Growth’. Hendrik Land of SvitzerWijsmuller Salvage will discuss salvage issues concerning very large passenger vessels and container ships. Richard Cornah of Richards Hogg Lindley will examine very large container ships and issues relating to the provision of financial guarantees to the salvor. Joe Hughes, chairman of the American Club, will look at issues regarding shipowners’ liabilities or their P&I insurers in the context of very large passenger vessels and container ships.
The programme also includes two papers on wreck removal activity, with Arthur Pilkington of Skuld looking at wreck removal from the P&I perspective, followed by Richard Shaw of the Institute of Marine Law at the University of Southampton, who will examine the likely impact of the new Wreck Removal Convention and the implications of a new international regime.
