News Snip Thames

The UK Environment Agency closed London's Thames Barrier three times in four days last month to protect the city from flooding.

The action was taken as tidal surges came up the river combined with high flows from heavy rain.  Thames tidal flood risk manager Andrew Batchelor said, 'It highlights just how necessary the Thames Barrier is to help reduce the risk of flooding in London and it serves as a reminder to us that living in the floodplain is never without risk.'
