Versatile Spreader Reaches a ‘Century’
01 Apr 2007
Clipper Elite Carriers (CEC) has ordered a Modulift Spreader System for permanent use on the 9,000dwt multipurpose container/heavy lift vessel ‘CEC Century’.
The order, direct from CEC, follows the successful use of 18 Modulift sets by operator Flamar, onboard other CEC owned vessels.
Modulift, a modular spreader system, is gaining ground in the marine and port heavy lifting sector thanks to its inherent flexibility. A single Modulift set can be used for lifting loads of varying size and weight by bolting together different sections of the beam itself to make different sized spreaders. Traditional spreaders are often one use only, or have to undergo heavy engineering work to prepare for a different lifting project.
CEC has chosen two sets of Mod 110 from the Modulift Heavy Range. Each set has a span capability of 7m and can be joined together for a span of 12m and a load capacity of 100 tons. The Mod 110 is aimed at lifts with longer span requirements and also has an increased load capacity as a result.
The Modulift range comprises 15 systems, which provide lifting capacity for weights between 2 tons and 3000 tons and lengths from 200mm to 53m. The system is used for the smallest maintenance work to the largest lifting jobs in many industry sectors. Modulift currently has sales and rental customers in the construction, maritime, offshore, oil & gas, industrial and aerospace industries. All utilise the modular system to enable the lifting of various loads, without the need to buy or rent new spreader beams for every different job.
