Leading Light Returns to Seawork
01 Apr 2007
One of the UK’s leading suppliers of aids to navigation, Hydrosphere, will again be exhibiting at Seawork 2007, presenting the latest developments and innovations in navigational lights from Vega and Carmanah plus updated buoys including the Mobilis Jet 2000.
Hydrosphere MD Andy Reid is enthusiastic about the new products coming online, especially the new generation of ultra-efficient LED powered products.
He said, ‘All the Hydrosphere products are driven by vigorous R&D programmes powered by the customers’ needs for solving interesting navigation challenges around the globe.’
A prime example of the utilisation of new technology is used on he Swale crossing, under the jurisdiction of Medway Ports, which needed a highly accurate sector light o make navigation safe.
Andy Reid continued, ‘To safely navigate in the vicinity of the new crossing, a sector light was required that would take into account the old and new bridges in very close proximity. The solution was to install a Vega LED sector light model VLS46, which will be on display at Seawork. This leading sector light was configured with a very narrow central white sector of only 0.6 degrees owing to the available under span navigable width in this particular location. Beam widths for each colour can be adjusted from 0.5 to 5.0 degress.’
Andy Reid and his colleagues Jeff and Robin will be available on Stand 23 to discuss a wide range of new navigation solutions and products, including self contained solar powered marine lights from Carmanah and the impressive Vega range of beacons, linear lead lights and sector lights. Other new products at Seawork will include a lock entrance light system and a monitoring system from Vega. The medium sized Mobilis Jet-2000PE buoy of 1.9m diameter will also be on display.
