Seawork Debut for New Chart Plotter

Winchester UK based Seawork exhibitor Standard Horizon used this year’s show to launch a new medium sized chart plotter, the CP300, which features a sunlight viewable 7” colour widescreen display, a host of navigation features and video input for a DVD player or remote camera.

In line with the CP180, which was launched last September, the CP300 comes with an external antenna or, in the CP300i version, an internal antenna.

The large high resolution 800 by 40 pixel widescreen displays detail clearly and there are six customisable quick keys for shift navigation around the different user defined screen options. As with all Standard plotters, there is a built-in EGNOS/WAAS compatible 16 channel receiver, delivering pinpoint accuracy to within 3m as well as AIS compatibility.

The CP300 has the capacity for up to 3,000 waypoints and 50 routes, with dedicated mark, route and go to keys, NMEA-0183 compatibility and, when connected to a Standard Horizon DSC VHF radio, DSC polling can be performed.

DVDs can be viewed on screen or a camera connected for security or mooring/manoeuvring assistance. The information may then be displayed either on the whole screen or just a section of it, enabling the user to still view navigation information at the same time. A swivel mounting bracket is included, allowing the display to be rotated 360(DEGREES).

Working in conjunction with either C-Map MAX or NT+ cartridges, there is a range of information available. MAX offers additional add-on features such as live navigation aids that flash as the cursor comes within the range of lights, buoys and channel markers. There are also tidal predictions showing the current strength and direction of the tide or for any future date and time. There are multi-coloured land elevation and depth contours, aerial images of port entrances, dynamic representations of the surrounding waters, and up to date pilotage and harbour information.
